Boston Rent Near the Top Nationally

Boston is the second most expensive city to rent an apartment, according to research from Rent, a provider of solutions to property managers. Rent compared rental costs from June 2021 to June 2022 for the 100 most expensive cities. In Boston, the average rent paid was $4,878 in June from $4,164 in June 2021. Cambridge placed 11th ($4,168), and Quincy had the 36th ($3,406) most expensive rent. No cities in New Hampshire or Rhode Island made the top 100. Jersey City, NJ, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, recorded the highest rent in the survey.
