The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said the Consumer Price Index registered an 8.3 percent increase in April on a year-over-year basis. A poll conducted for CNBC showed more than three out of four adults said they're worried higher prices will force them to rethink their financial choices in the coming months. If higher prices persist, one in five respondents said they would delay buying a home. Of those surveyed, 15 percent said they already had delayed purchasing a home in the last six months.
